Can microRNA markers be truly universal across different cancer types?

The three miRNAs measured by OncuraKit are not organ-specific — they are upregulated across a broad spectrum of cancer types because they target fundamental tumor biology rather than organ-specific pathways. miR-21-5p, for example, targets PTEN, PDCD4, and RECK — universal tumor suppressor genes whose loss drives growth across virtually all cancer types. This is why the Yenos test can screen for six cancer types simultaneously from a single measurement panel, and why the platform is expected to provide signal for cancer types beyond the primary six targets. However, it is important to note that the test is a screening tool — a positive result indicates miRNA overexpression and warrants further clinical investigation to identify the source.
