The Healthy Level (HL) is Yenos Analytical's reference normalization standard for miRNA expression. It represents the average miRNA expression level observed in healthy individuals. By measuring every sample as a multiple of HL rather than as an absolute quantity, Yenos eliminates variability caused by differences in age, sex, ethnicity, or urine concentration. A healthy person's miRNA expression averages 1.04× HL. A person with cancer averages 1.83× HL. The decision threshold is set at 1.5× HL — a value that falls clearly between the two populations, which have zero data overlap. This normalization approach is one of Yenos's key innovations and is protected by US patents.
