I take immunosuppressive medications for an autoimmune disease. Can I take OncuraKit?
Most immunosuppressive medications used for autoimmune diseases — including low-dose methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine, azathioprine, mycophenolate, and biologic agents (TNF inhibitors, IL-17 inhibitors, JAK inhibitors) — are not expected to significantly alter the three miRNA markers measured by OncuraKit in ways that would invalidate the HL threshold. These drugs modulate specific immune pathways rather than causing the widespread cell death and miRNA release that cytotoxic chemotherapy causes. High-dose corticosteroids (prednisone >20 mg/day) warrant more caution due to their broad effects on gene expression including miRNA. We recommend collecting during a period of stable disease activity and stable medication dosing, and discussing any autoimmune flare periods with your physician before testing.
