What types of hormonal therapy are contraindications?
The following hormonal therapies are contraindications for OncuraKit: Estrogen therapy (ET) and estrogen-progestin therapy (EPT) — used for menopausal symptom management; Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) — used for hypogonadism in men or women; Hormonal contraceptives — combined oral contraceptives (the Pill), hormonal IUDs (Mirena, Kyleena), hormonal implants (Nexplanon), hormonal patches and rings; Gender-affirming hormonal therapy — estrogen for transgender women, testosterone for transgender men; DHEA therapy — a precursor to sex hormones used in some HRT protocols. These agents alter the expression of numerous genes including miRNA genes, potentially affecting the HL baseline in ways that could produce inaccurate OncuraKit results. If you have recently discontinued hormonal therapy, consult your prescribing physician about an appropriate waiting period before testing.
