I have an autoimmune condition. Can I take OncuraKit?

Most autoimmune conditions are not contraindications for OncuraKit. The primary contraindications are pregnancy, active cancer treatment, and hormonal therapy. If your autoimmune condition is being treated with immunosuppressive medications (methotrexate, biologics, steroids), these drugs generally do not alter miRNA expression in the same way that cytotoxic chemotherapy does — they modulate immune cell function rather than causing mass cell death. However, active inflammatory flares of your autoimmune disease may transiently elevate miR-21 (an inflammatory miRNA). We recommend collecting your sample during a period of relative remission rather than during an active flare. Discuss this with your physician and rheumatologist — they can help interpret any OncuraKit results in the context of your autoimmune disease activity.
