Can I take OncuraKit if I am on dialysis?
Patients on hemodialysis do not produce significant urine (oliguria or anuria) because their kidneys have failed and dialysis replaces kidney filtration. OncuraKit requires a 10 mL mid-stream voided urine sample — individuals on hemodialysis who produce little or no urine would not be able to provide a sufficient sample. Additionally, the HL normalization is calibrated for normally functioning kidneys filtering miRNA from blood into urine. Peritoneal dialysis patients who retain some residual kidney function may potentially collect a sample, but this has not been validated. If you are on dialysis and interested in OncuraKit, please consult your nephrologist and contact OncuraKit for a personalized eligibility assessment.
