Can OncuraKit identify which organ the cancer is coming from?
No — in its current form, OncuraKit identifies the presence of elevated cancer-associated miRNA but does not pinpoint the tissue of origin. The three markers measured (miR-21, miR-375, miR-141) are broadly associated with multiple cancer types and are not organ-specific. If your result is elevated, your physician will use your clinical history, risk factors, and standard imaging to guide targeted follow-up (e.g., colonoscopy, mammogram, CT scan, PSA). This is consistent with how all multi-cancer early detection (MCED) tests work — even Galleri, which attempts tissue-of-origin prediction, correctly identifies the tissue in only about 89% of the cases where it detects cancer.
