What is the false negative rate of OncuraKit?
The false negative rate is 1 minus sensitivity. For individual markers: miR-21 false negative rate = 6.2%, miR-375 false negative rate = 18.5%, miR-141 false negative rate = 2.7%. However, because three markers are measured and a cancer patient typically overexpresses at least one, the combined panel false negative rate is lower than any individual marker alone. A cancer patient who is negative on miR-375 may still be positive on miR-21 or miR-141. Clinically, this means some cancer patients will have normal OncuraKit results — particularly for cancer types with lower miRNA overexpression, or for very small tumors shedding minimal miRNA. This is why OncuraKit is presented as a screening tool to be used alongside, not instead of, regular medical care and standard-of-care screenings.
