Should I take a pregnancy test before using OncuraKit?
If you are a woman of childbearing age who is sexually active and not using effective contraception, we recommend taking a pregnancy test before using OncuraKit. Pregnancy is a contraindication because placental miRNA secretion can dramatically elevate miRNA levels, potentially producing a falsely elevated cancer miRNA result. An inexpensive home pregnancy test (urine-based HCG test) can rule out pregnancy before you proceed with OncuraKit collection. If your pregnancy test is positive, do not use OncuraKit — wait until after delivery and, if breastfeeding, until breastfeeding has ceased and miRNA levels have had time to normalize (estimated 2–3 months post-cessation).
