What aspects of the Yenos platform are protected by intellectual property?
The Yenos MinION/Yenos platform is protected by multiple layers of intellectual property. US patents cover: (1) the specific osmium metalorganic probe chemistry for nucleic acid tagging and nanopore detection; (2) the method of using nanopore current blockage events to quantify specific miRNA molecules from biological samples; (3) the HL normalization method for clinical interpretation of miRNA quantification from urine. International patents have been granted in eight countries. The proprietary bioinformatics pipeline for event classification and HL calculation is protected as a trade secret. The clinical validation data and standard operating procedures are proprietary to Yenos Analytical. Together, these protections create significant barriers to replication by competitors.
